Mollie's Easter Dress

I finished Mollie's Easter dress the night before Easter, inspired by a dress I saw on Pinterest. It's been a few months since I've sewn her anything, and she's become more picky about the dresses she wears (not too fancy), so I really tried to make this dress something she would love. Since I didn't have a pattern, it was fun to figure out how to recreate the dress, and the best ways to make each element.

Believe it or not, it was my first time making the super simple "peasant style" dress. I will definitely be doing more. My only regret was that the elastic around her arms seemed a little too tight, although it didn't bother her. I asked her if they felt too tight and she said "no", despite the pink rings they left around her arms! At least it can be past down to Delia.

  1. I never, ever, ever get tired of peasant dresses on little girls. It is a beautiful dress....I love the center panel and the sash. Night Before Easter sewing is a time honored tradition, lol. My husband isn't sure if it's really a holiday unless I'm up at midnight with the sewing machine. Great work...and a lovely model too :)

  2. Cute dress! As far as the tight arms go-- if they were gathered with elastic, just undo your casing, snip out your elastic and thread a longer piece through, test it for fit, then sew it back up and you should be good to go! I've had to do this before when sewing late...wanting to finish something, and not wanting to wait to try it on my girls :)

  3. I remember my mom making quite a few peasant-style dresses for me. And I also remember her staying up late the night before Easter finishing mine & Laurie's dresses!

  6. Most of the holiday clothing I made my children were completed the night before the holiday or the night before the greeting card photo shoot! The dress looks adorable on your little girl. Great job!
